Our vision, Abintra develops confident, self-motivated learners who creatively meet the challenges of life.​  The mission of Abintra Montessori school is to assist in the development of the individual child and adolescent by providing a quality education based on Montessori principles and philosophy.


General Info

  • Executive Director: Sherry Knott (since 1996)

  • Enrollment and Class Size: Approx. 100 students ages 3 to 14 years; average class size is 20 students (guide-to-student ratio is 1:10)

  • Founded: 1981 (Nashville's first elementary Montessori program)

  • Governance: Volunteer Board of Trustees, comprised of current and former Abintra parents and alumni and Nashville community members.



  • The 2020-2021 academic year begins August 10, 2020 and ends May 28, 2021. 

  • Abintra offers full-day programs, Monday-Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm.

  • Extended care: 

    • Before school: 7:30-8:30am

    • After school: 3:30-5:30pm

    • Special note: During COVID we have limited space available for beforecare, and aftercare is for upper school only with limited spaces.
