Abintra At-A-Glance

The mission of Abintra Montessori school is to assist in the development of the individual child and adolescent by providing a quality education based on Montessori principles and philosophy. In our vision, Abintra develops confident, self-motivated learners who creatively meet the challenges of life.​

  • Executive Director: Sherry Knott (since 1996)

  • Enrollment and Class Size: Approx. 130 students ages 3 to 14 years; average class size is 20 students (guide-to-student ratio is 1:10)

  • Founded: 1981 (Nashville's first elementary Montessori program)

  • Governance: Volunteer Board of Trustees, comprised of current and former Abintra parents and Nashville business/education community members.



  • The 2019-2020 academic year begins August 12, 2019 and ends May 22, 2020. 

  • Abintra offers full-day programs, Monday-Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm.

  • Extended care:

    • Before school: 7:30-8:30am

    • After school: 3:30-5:30pm



  • 2019-2020 School Year

    • Lower School: $13,828

    • Upper School: $15,404

  • Tuition Assistance

    • Based on financial need and availability of funds for already- enrolled elementary and middle school students. For more information, contact the Admission Office

  • Accredited by Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (CASI), a division of AdancED

  • TN Department of Education (TDOE) licensure since 1981 (includes annual inspections by Health Department, Fire Marshall, Food Services)

  • Mindfulness School affiliate since 2015
